Three people reportedly lost their lives in a fatal road crash which occurred on Ilorin-Jebba Highway in Kwara State on Thursday evening.
FRSC Sector Commander in Kwara state, Mr Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the incident said that it happened at 6.10 pm at Olokonla near Shao junction in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The multiple accident according to the Federal Road Safety Corps involved two vehicles including a trailer with registration number T0431KT and a red commercial Toyota Corolla car with registration number AFN 274 NY.
He said that the accident was caused by speed violation and excessive speeding by the drivers.
Owoade said that seven people; five males and two females were involved in the crash adding that while four of them sustained various degree of injury, three others, one male and two females lost their lives.
He said that the injured were taken to Batholomew Hospital, a private hospital for treatment while the corpses of the dead persons were deposited at the morgue of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
Owoade advised drivers to always observe road regulations and adhere strictly to speed limit while traveling on the highway.
