An Osun-based human rights group, Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative, has called out on Professor Ajibade Bayo Lawal of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, to tender public apology within 7 days for trampling on the rights of a Hijab-wearing student of the institution.
The group threatened to take legal action in case of refusal to act as demanded, at the expiration of the ultimatum.

This is contained in a press release signed by the Director General, Barr. Sulaymon A. Tadese today.
The release reads:
RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE AT ITS CRESCENDO, THREAT TO NATIONAL PEACE AND TRANQUILITY; SHOWCASING INCITEMENT OF RELIGIOUS VIOLENCE, BREACH OF PEACE AND AN ASSASSINATION OF FREEDOM OF RELIGION IN NIGERIA CONTRARY TO SECTION 2, SECTION 38 & SECTION 86 OF THE NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION 1999 AS AMENDED AND THE NIGERIAN CRIMINAL CODE BY PROF. AJIBADE BAYO LAWAL AND THE MANAGEMENT OF LAUTECH RESPECTIVELY.
The attention of Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative has been drawn to a religious discrimination against a Woman-in-veil whose name is yet not disclosed, clandestinely carried out in the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Online Distance Learning Face-to-Face facilitation on 17th November, 2021.
We have been reliably informed that the act had been so carried out on the order of the Dean of Faculty of Nursing, one Mr. Ajibade Bayo Lawal while addressing a group of Nursing Students in the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Online Distance learning after an instruction that Niqob is not allowed on uniform whereas it was an assembly of Students in Mufty.
We are equally aware that the Religious intolerance and discrimination of Mr. Ajibade went further and reached its highest crescendo by instigating an assault puncturing the dignity of the Woman-in-veil in question by forcefully removing her veil.
We have every course to believe that the act herein stated had been jointly and severally carried out by both Mr. Ajibade Bayo Lawal and the Management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology aimed at organizing a funeral of the provision of Section 38 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended which avail every citizen of Nigeria the right to freedom of religion without any disturbance which strongly indicate the commissioning of a felonious offence punishable under the Nigerian Law.
It is equally pertinent to remind the Management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso that the constitution is trite on its supremacy and if any other law including the rules of LAUTECH is inconsistent with any of its provision, Section 2 of the Nigerian Constitution had rendered such rules or laws as noil and void.
The Management of LAUTECH should be reminded also, that the institution is state-base which had been established from the coffers of tax payers and resources of Oyo State and such conduct will portray an attempt to oust the jurisdiction of especially the Muslim community in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
The conduct of Mr. Ajibade Bayo Lawal is capable of disrupting the peace and tranquility that the Oyo State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria had painstakingly built and maintained.
It should be noted as well that Mr. Ajibade had committed a breach of peace contrary to section 86 of the Criminal Code consequence of which the Muslim Students of the University may result to jungle justice.
To this effect, TAKE NOTICE that THURIST has an embodiment of Human Rights protection and to fast tract the ends of justice the following demands had been sought from the Management of Ladoke Akintola University to ensure peace flows and Muslim Students on Campus do not result to jungle justice:
1. A public apology jointly and severally by both Mr. Ajibade Bayo Lawal and the University Management
2. Immediate Suspension of Mr. Ajibade whom according to report is accustomed to discrimination against women-in-veil
Failure to comply with our demands as sought above within 7 days, we shall have the course to proceed on further necessary action against you to get our demands.
