Teachers Day: Osun NUT Appeals To Gov. Oyetola To Make Headmasters, Principals; Tutor General

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT Osun State Chapter has appealed to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to make headmasters and principals; Tutors General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education. 


The Chairman of the Union in the state, Comrade Wakeel Amuda made the appeal on the occasion of the 2020 World Teachers' Day. 



Comrade Amuda said government in its reversal of the old education policy, maintain making headmasters and principals; Tutor Generals and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, instead of dolling out political appointments.


He commended Mr. Oyetola for providing personal protective equipment, PPEs to teachers as schools resumed across the state. 


The NUT chairman also lauded the state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Oladoyin and the Special Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi for their efforts at repositioning the state's education sector.


Comrade Amuda who lamented the effect of coronavirus on the world said "It is painful to have experienced this ugly situation in a day like this when we (Teachers) suppose to be having funs and enjoying ourselves, the celebration has to be dropped to an extra ordinary low level."


He urged teachers in the state to work harder individually and collectively in order to rebuild a prosperous state of their dreamz using the veritable tools of education under the trend of the New Normal. 


"As teachers, the task ahead of us is to show the whole world ways by which education can salvage the economy and secure the livelihood of many people," he said. 


He appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for the robust relationship with the union and its members since he assumed office.
