Traders in Igbona Market, Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State have called on Governor Gboyega Oyetola to extend his infrastructural development program to them by constructing modern toilet for their usage.
They said the Igbona market, which is one of the popular market in the state capital, Osgobo has been lacking toilet for over two decades.
Speaking with our correspondent on Monday, the head of the market, who doubles as the Babaloga General in Osun, Chief David Iyiola said his agitation for the construction of toilet for Igbona Market has been long.
He said he had pleaded to the two past local government chairmen of Olorunda LGA, Honorable Gani Olaoluwa and Honorable Hakeem Okunade Samanja to see the need why construction of toilet for Igbona Market is needed, saying all his efforts produced no result.
"I was locked up by the two previous local government chairmen because I challenged them to stop collecting levy from market men and women if they can not provide toilet for them" he said.
When asked if other market within the LGA are provided with toilet, Chief Iyiola said "Orisunbare Market, Ota-Efun Market, Adenle Market, Oke-Fia Market respectively have toilet.
"Whenever their is pothole in the market, we repair it by ourselves" he said the Olorunda LGA government has always neglect its responsibility on the market.
"Even as the Babaloja of the market I always pay my dues to the government as a trader who has a store in the market and I have also instructed all traders in the market to do so as well" he said.
One of the market women, Mrs Iyanu Isaac told our correspondent that the situation of not having toilet in the market is a serious challenge to them.
"We do pay fifty naira (N50) as levy to the government of Olorunda once in every week but our request for toilet construction has remain unattended to by the LGA" she said.
She pleaded to Governor Oyetola to come to their aid by putting an end to their aged agitation by constructing a modern toilet for them.
