BREAKING: Two Dead As Hoodlums Attack Nigeria Army In Ikire (Video)


At least two people have reportedly died when Pandemonium broke out, unknown Hoodlums attack Nigeria Army in Akire Palace on Monday.



The Ikire town, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Council Area of Osun State as a High Court sitting in the town delivers judgement against the Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi.

The stool has been a subject of litigation for over two decades and has been to the Supreme Court.


After the judgement of Supreme court Prince Tajudeen Olarewaju of Aketula ruling House trying to gain access to the palace to claim his monarch as ruled by the supreme court.The legal tussle on Akire of Ikire erupted after the demise of the late Akire, Oba Oseni Oyegunle on the 5th August 1987 and as at the time, according to legal advice from the Court of Appeal, Ibadan, the ruling houses entitled to the throne were in the order of, Aketula, Ladekan, Lambeloye, Disamu and Omisokan.


However Scores of irate youths according to information gathered by FTNEWS had earlier chased out Chiefs, members of Akire in Council and shut the palace of Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi.

The rampaging youths besieged the place at around 10 o clock in the morning and as a result leaving residents of the town in palpable fear.

FTNEWS gathered that in a bid to restore peace in the area, soldiers were said to have been deployed to the palace , the development which agreviated the situation.

It was gathered that the youths were protesting non-implementation of the Supreme Court judgement which declared the continued stay of Oba Olatunde Falabi on the throne as illegal.

As at press time, security operatives have been deployed to the town to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

The supreme Court had in 2014 ruled it that, it was not the turn of Oba Olatunde Falabi to be on the throne.


He added that six Nigeria Army were at the front gate of Akire palace when the hoodlums attacked them and Vandalized the vehicle and size their weapons.

He stressed further the Army reinforce to the Akire palace to recover the weapons which the hoodlums attacked them again which make the army to engage theme and two people were killed in the process.

Speaking, Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola said “truly there was a crisis in Ikire but we are still for the report.”

Opalola said a police Armoured Personnel Carrier was shot at by the hoodlums, who laid siege to the palace.

Also the Chairman, Irewole Local Government Area, Ikire, Remilekun Abbas, blamed the incident on the kingship tussle in the town.

He said, “The incident in Ikire is not connected to the #EndSARS matter. It was caused by a kingship tussle. A family is locked in a tussle with the current Akire. The other side involved in the tussle attacked the palace.
